This line of research is being done
by the Urology Disciplines (Sector of Feminine Urology, urodynamic and Neurourology) and
Neurology (Sector of Neurophysiology clinic) of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo
(UNIFESP) . This work was done on women whose history and clinical evaluation did not
evidence the presence of urine loss or feces, significative genital prolapse, diabetes and
other degenerative alterations, neurological pathologies, vaginal or extensive pelvic
surgeries, urinary infection or suggestive problem of interstitial cystitis.
A total of 9 volunteers were part of this study, after reading the letter of written
information and permission, with age between 29-63 (mean=44.4 years).The patient was put
in lythotomy position to research both reflexes. We initially got a sensorial threshold
raising gradually the intensity of the stimulus until its perception by the patient.
Because it is a subjective data successive repetition was necessary till we obtained a
trustful value. Subsequent stimulus were done with multiples of the sensitive threshold.
In the pudendal anal reflex stimulation occurred in the paraclitoris region, bilaterally,
through a conventional bipolar stimulator. The mid urethra region was stimulated, to
obtain a urethro-anal reflex, through ring electrodes DANTEC coupled to a Foley probe 10
Fr. Electrodes on the surface together with the perianal region registered the results in
an eletromyography apparatus NIHON-KOHDEN model Neuropack sigma.
Repeated stimulus in each intensity determined by the sensitive threshold were done. The
latency obtained in milliseconds (ms) through the superposition of the observed traces
