The urethrovaginal fistulas generally occur after surgical manipulation of the anterior vaginal wall in urogynecological procedures. The urethral diverticulectomy is the main responsible of the result of a fistula, appearing as cause in 16 to 45% of patients 1,2. Other causes of a fistula include anterior colporrhaphy, urethral lesions resulting from childbirth, radiotherapy in the treatment of bladder, urethra or uterus carcinomas and the region trauma, mainly when there exists a fracture of the hip bone1,2.
